Boasting a fantastic array of nightlife and bursting at the seams with cultural attractions, Thailand's capital city is home to nearly 10 million inhabitants. Bangkok has developed into a cosmopolitan, modern, exciting and sophisticated destination and is a ‘must see’ for visitors to Thailand. Dotted with temples and palaces, great hotels, shopping and arts, it offers the opportunity to experience a fascinating glimpse of Thai culture against the backdrop of a dynamic metropolis.

Thai food is world-renowned. While Bangkok boasts an excellent selection of international restaurants, it would be a crime to visit this city without trying some of the local specialities. To select the best from the city’s 50,000 eateries would be impossible, but for street stalls and some interesting cheap eats (including deep fried bugs!) check out the 'tourist capital', Khoa San Road. There is also a good variety of high-end eateries in the Sukhumvit district. 

Silom is well-known for being home to the infamous ‘Patpong’ go-go strip bar scene, but there is much more to this party district, with pubs and bars of all descriptions. For a cocktail with panoramic views of the city, try the Vertigo or Sirocco bars.
