Travel warning - Political Tension - Flooding - Regional Unrest

Political riots in Dhaka have created an uncertain security situation across the country. Travellers should exercise caution, particularly in Dhaka, avoid large gatherings and monitor news sources to avoid potential trouble areas.

The monsoon has arrived in Bangladesh with deadly rains flooding the Chittagong district in the southeast of the country. Transport and communications have been seriously affected and thousands of people displaced. Travellers should avoid the area and monitor the news for any widening of the disaster. Heavy rains have also fallen across central areas near Dhaka and other parts of the country and further flooding is expected. The wet season can continue until November.

The Chittagong Hill Tracts region is the site of ongoing civil unrest and should be avoided.
