Why? The home of hawker cuisine, practically every street corner is home to a food court surrounded by stalls. These usually specialise in one or two dishes from around Asia and are dirt cheap. For a food shopping experience, however, go to the Kreta Ayer Wet Market. A bewildering array of goodies are on offer - from Asian vegetables to edible snakes.
Alternatively... Singapore has long been regarded as Asia's shopping paradise, whether it's electronics or fashion. Orchard Road is the most renowned shopping precinct, but the whole country appears devoted to going on a spree with the credit card.
