Marrakech

What it's great for: The archetypal Arab souk experience.
Why? It's doubtful that there's a more atmospheric shopping experience in the world than getting lost in Marrakech's market maze. There are stalls selling practically everything - traditional shoes, glasswork, carpets, spices, you name it - and the souk seems to go on forever. Prepare to haggle, have would-be 'guides' hassle you and let stall owners to sucker you in with a friendly glass of sweet tea - but keep your cool and it's a magical experience.
Alternatively... Leave the Medina and head to the new city. It's far less hassle (and fun), but European-style stores can be found there.
