The best of Britain's beaches
If a day at the beach conjures up images of traffic jams, poor parking, dirty sand and smelly toilets with no loo paper, don't despair. A new guide book can help you find a beautiful, clean beach near to you.
Britain's Blue Flag Beaches (£4.99) recommends more than 372 beaches in Britain – 122 of which have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award, which pays particular attention to both water quality and facilities.
The book is the only official guide to the UK's Blue Flag and Seaside Award-winning beaches, and has been put together by ENCAMS (the organiser of the Blue Flag Awards) and Visit Britain.
Packed full of colour maps, visitor attractions and amenities, it recommends a range of beaches, including Burntisland and St Andrews West in Scotland; Aberystwyth (North) and Saundersfoot in Wales; Port Rush West Strand in Northern Ireland; and Camber Sands, South England.
