On Safari: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Serengeti means the 'the endless plain'. The landscape ranges from grassland plains to savanna, from riverine forest to woodland. It's wild, enchanting, and teeming with big scary animals.
What to see: The annual migration of hundreds of thousands of white-bearded wildebeeste and zebras along the Mara River. If the thought of a stempede of giant cattle isn't scary enough, close on their heels come lions, cheetahs and leopards, all hoping for a tasty meal, so don’t get too close!
We suggest: Visit a traditional Masai 'enkang' to see how man co-exists with nature at its most unforgiving. Here you can rub shoulders with the legendary Masai Mara. They’re a semi-nomadic warrior tribe- though don't let that put you off.
Stay: For a real taste of solitude, mobile canvas-tented accomodation with the Wilderness Mobile Camp.
Time to go: Annual migration time, from July to September.
