Last resting places
We all remember those well-known faces who tragically died before their time and have since achieved almost legendary status. Many people still make pilgrimages to their graves to leave heartfelt messages and tributes. Come with us on a tour of some famous last resting places around the world...
James Dean, 1931-1955
The ultimate rebel without a cause, film idol James Dean epitomised the restless youth of the time. Tragically cut short at the age of just 24, James Dean's life will forever be entrenched in the stuff of legend.
Cause of death: Dean's untimely death came at the hands of his newly acquired Porsche, nicknamed 'Little Bastard'. Paying no heed to his previous warning on speeding that day, and epitomising his 'live fast, die young' attitude, Dean sped his new car around a corner and straight into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
Tributes: The diner across the road from the accident site has a memorial outside and memorabilia on sale inside. Dean's grave is located at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana, the small town where he grew up and where a small memorial was erected in 1996.
