Is this the best-kept secret in the Bahamas?

Enjoy amazing views from Kamalame's spa

- Kamalame: A photographer's dream

Imagine an island hideaway far from the realities of life, no ringing phones, no incessant TV chatter, just peace, quiet and your loved one.

Imagine a small and intimate resort where you are free to spend the long lazy days exactly as you please, punctuated by delicious meals.

If this is your idea of Eden, head for Kamalame Cay, a tranquil Bahamian island paradise.

The Bahamas comprise a stunning archipelago of over 400 islands in the Caribbean, of which just 40 are inhabited. Located an hour from Miami, most of the tourist hordes head for New Providence – seat of bustling capital Nassau - and Grand Bahama, but venture to the Out Islands and you can find islands as yet untouched by mass tourism and experience the real Bahamas, as we were to discover.

Leaving behind a grey London, we arrived at Nassau and took a thrilling 10-minute flight in a 12-seater plane to Andros Island, flying over an impressive canvas of glowing blue and green phosphorous water, serving as a fitting welcome to this magical place. A taxi and private boat later, we arrived at Kamalame Cay – our magical home for the next week.
