Five hot honeymoon hotels: Sri Lanka

You got the rock and you've worn the frock. Now recover from the wedding shenanigans by checking into one of the world's most glamorous love hotels.

Sri Lanka

The Dutch House, Galle, Sri Lanka

You could stay in the Cinnamon Suite at The Sun House overlooking the Galle Fort in southern Sri Lanka – it's often voted one of the best honeymoon suites in the world.

But here's a tip. For something equally special, head over the road to their lesser-known sister property, The Dutch House, which, with only three suites, is both quiet and spacious (and has a better pool!). Think lazily spinning overhead fans, wraparound verandahs with rattan recliners and antique four-poster beds swathed in muslin.

It's the little touches you'll remember. Like the crisp linen and towels (all kept in a special dehumidifier – musty bed linen is such a bore in the tropics). And frangipani strewn on your pillow, which comes as standard.

Seven nights cost from £1,725 per person, including flights, with Scott Dunn: 020 8682 5010; www.scottdunn.com.
