Scotland & Northumberland

For Harry Potter fans, no visit to Northumberland is complete without a visit to medieval Alnwick Castle, the location for Hogwarts in the popular films.

For a memorable day out, cross the tidal pathway to Lindisfarne on Holy Island, visit the 16th-century castle and soak up the medieval religious heritage - and a glass of local mead.

Immerse yourselves in local history and walk beside Roman Hadrian's Wall, or visit historic castles such as Culzean in Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Dunstanburgh and Chillingham, the most haunted castle in Britain.

Go seal spotting in the Firth of Forth or see puffins and gannets at the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre near Berwick-on-Tweed.
