Balinese dancing
Where: Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.
Watch it: In Bali, dancing is a form of storytelling, with lots of measured, intricate movements set to traditional gamelan music. Ubud, in the centre of the island, is the cultural hub, and many of the hotels and resorts offer dance performances as nighttime entertainment. The Puri Saren royal palace offers a more spectacular backdrop, though, and there are performances of various difference dances almost every evening.
Do it: The Bali Spirit Yoga Studio in Ubud offers dance classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
