British Seaside Resorts - Llandudno
These days it seems all our neighbours spend their summer hols in exotic, distant lands. Whatever happened to a good, old-fashioned jaunt to the British seaside? We wondered to ourselves. So we packed our buckets and spades and went in search of the traditional British seaside resort...
Where: Llandudno
What? This resort in Conway is accessible from the delightfully scenic North Wales railway line and features a graceful shingle bay between the dramatic headlands of Great Orme and Little Orme.
Check out: Llandudno's grade II-listed Pier has views of mountainous Snowdonia and stands at the end of a long Victorian promenade. Beside it are the gorgeous Happy Valley gardens, where you can get a tram ascending the Great Orme, with spine-tingling sea views.
Seaside street cred: Since 1864 Llandudno has been known as 'Queen of the Welsh resorts', a prime location for that great British tradition, the dirty week-end.
