Bling Breaks - Yachting
When booking a holiday most of us try to save a bob or two, but what if money were no object? Indulge your travel fantasies and explore the AOL guide to travel in the spirit of excessive spending and ostentation, or what we call the Bling Break...
Bling transport: The yacht
Bling break: Do watch where you drop the speedboat, darling! Number one in our list of opulent foibles is the Super Yacht, ideal for sipping champagne/getting a tan/enjoying breathtaking views, all at the same time.
Bling example: The Christina O is 325-feet worth of former World War II convoy frigate turned into a floating mansion by Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis. Amenities include a mosaic-laid swimming pool, remote-controlled dance-floor and a helipad - all yours for around £50,000 a week.
Who goes where: Marilyn, JFK, Churchill and Jackie O liked to cruise around the French Riviera, while these days stars like the Douglases prefer the Balearic Isles.
Carbon footprint: Super-yachts are serious offenders, burning up to 750 litres of fuel an hour.
