British teen 'raped and robbed' while painting in Loire Valley
A British woman has allegedly been raped and robbed by a French farmer while painting the picturesque scenery of the Loire Valley.
The woman had been painting a picture of a gate when the attack happened on Saturday at about 5pm just north of the city of Angers.
The farmer reportedly drove past in his van and stopped when he saw her.
The woman went to the police after the alleged attack, and the man was taken into custody, where he reportedly admitted to raping the woman.
The Daily Mail reports that according to French newspaper Courrier de l'Ouest the suspect has a previous conviction for sexual assault dating back to 1997.
He was interrogated by a judge at a closed court session, where it was decided the suspect would be put under investigation for rape and robbery with violence.
