Showers, gale force winds and floods return to Britain for autumn

After a wet summer, autumn will be blown away by gale force winds, torrential showers and potential flooding, forecasters have warned.
To top it off, temperatures will drop below zero and frost is expected, the Daily Mail reported.
Last night saw rainstorms and gale forced descend, and today there was a chilly start for England and Wales before highs of 16C in what is expected to be the last fine day before the severe weather conditions arrive.
Dan Williams at the Met Office told the Daily Mail: 'It will be another cold night on Saturday with low pressure moving in from the South bringing wet, windy weather.
'From South Wales across to South East England, we will see gusts of 60mph and heavy rain falling, more than an inch in some areas.
'This weather system will push into northern areas on Monday bringing similar conditions to the rest of the county and that really set the tone for the rest of next week.'
According to the Daily Telegraph, authorities have warned of localised flooding and damage caused by falling tree branches and roofs being blown off. Motorists have been warned of travel chaos in southern, eastern and central parts of England.
Yellow 'severe' warnings were issued by the Met Office for London, the Home Counties, southern coasts, the south west and Wales from early Sunday, while northern areas will experience clear skies and sunshine. This was extended for almost the entire country when stormy conditions swept north.
The Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the south-west and gave a warning of potential river flooding.
