Get ready for a wet and windy weekPA

After another sunny and warm weekend, the weather looks set to take a turn for the worse with wet and windy weather expected all over the UK from tomorrow.

The Met Office forecasts that a band of rain will spread southwards from Monday. This will be heavy in parts of northern England and north Wales, but will become light and patchy as it heads south.

Although it will be drier and brighter in the south and east, from Tuesday it will be unsettled, cool and breezy throughout the UK with scattered showers expected in all parts.

Severe gales are possible in the northern half of the UK and the south won't escape the wind and rain - although there will be some short-lived brighter spells.

Temperatures are expected to be around the average of 17C to 19C in England and Wales and 14C to 16C for Scotland and Northern Ireland and there is an increasing risk of mist and fog overnight.

So it looks like it's time to dig out your waterproofs and warm jackets as autumn is really here.
