Couple held hostage by pirates set sail againPA

Paul and Rachel Chandler, who were kidnapped by Somali pirates in 2009 and held hostage for more than a year, have set sail again on the same yacht on which they were captured.

The Telegraph reports that the retired couple from Tunbridge Wells are hoping to finish their round-the-world trip and have spent the last two years restoring their 38ft yacht, the Lynn Rival.

They set sail from Noss Marina in Dartmouth, Devon at 2pm on Saturday, before heading to Cornwall and then, it is believed, Spain.

They are expected to avoid the Seychelles and the coast of Somalia, which is where they were captured three years ago.

The retired couple were released in November 2010 after friends and family raised a ransom of £625,000.

Mr Chandler told the Daily Mail that their friends supported their decision to resume their trip.

He said: "They want us to get our lives back, and life for us at the moment is travelling and sailing.

"I think they are relaxed about it, I don't think they would be very positive if we were to be captured again, but we had bad luck, we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the chances of it happening again are incredibly small."
