Shock weather forecast: It's going to be sunny!, warm weather britain, uk weather forecastPA

It's time to dust off the barbeque and put your brolly away again as Britain is set to bask in temperatures of up to 26C this week.

Just days after temperatures were below freezing in parts of Scotland, London will see warm weather today but forecasters say it is still too early to get excited about an Indian summer, the Metro reported.

'It's not unusual to see really nice temperatures in September and certainly the next couple of days aren't looking too bad,' Sarah Holland from the Met Office told the newspaper.

'As we go into Tuesday, the cloud will return but temperatures will still top 23C (73F) in the south. On Wednesday, most of England and Wales will stay dry and clear with some sunny spells, so over the next few days we are going to see some nice warm temperatures.

'But it's a bit early for an Indian summer – that usually comes after the first frost as we get towards October and into November.'

A combination of high pressure and cold, dry air caused a cold snap across Britain last week and temperatures plummeted to -2.4C in Braemar, Scotland.

The Met Office also revealed that this summer has been the wettest since 1912 with 366mm of rain falling during June, July and August.
