Polar bear shatters zoo enclosure with rockYouTube

A polar bear terrified visitors at Rotterdam Zoo when it threw a large large rock at the glass surrounding it's enclosure, causing it to crack and almost shatter.

Video footage shows two men watching the bear as it swims around, before a rock comes flying towards the glass.

Fortunately the glass was strong and didn't break, but the visitors made a hasty retreat.

The Daily Mail reports that the polar bear, called Vicks, has a reputation for playing with rocks and zoo staff believe that it was an accident rather than an attempt to escape.

This isn't his first time in the limelight: when he was born in December 2010, he became a national celebrity as 420,000 people watched the early months of his life via a webcam feed.

He got his name after the company, which makes cold and flu medicine, adopted him as a cub.

He has now been moved to another pen while the glass is repaired, and zoo staff have reassured visitors that it will totally safe to visit the polar bear enclosure when repairs are complete.
