Things to see before you die: Coloured ice caves in China
- Filed under:
The Chinese certainly know how to show off their most beautiful assets to their best advantage.
These ice caves in Ningwu County are more than three million years old and are beautifully illuminated with coloured lights to show off the intricate icicles that form inside every year.
The ice caves, some of which are more than 100m long, are visited by thousands of tourists exploring Shanxi Province, one of China's most scenic regions.
The thick ice inside freezes in the winter and stays frozen all year, forming huge icicles which hang from the ceiling. Beautiful.
