Ryanair flight attendant hospitalised after falling three metres from plane at take-offPA

A Ryanair flight attendant is being treated for head injuries after falling three metres from the plane's exit door while the aircraft was preparing for take-off at Gothenburg City Airport in Sweden.

The London-bound flight was getting ready to depart after running almost an hour late. It is not known exactly what caused the air hostess to fall, just that the vehicle that carries the stairs used by passengers to board the plane backed off, and then the stewardess fell out, dropping three metres to the ground.

According to The Local, airport CEO Annika Nyberg told news agency TT: "I have never in all my years seen anything like it.

"The stairs had been removed and the door to the plane was closed. What made her open the door we don't know. I find it hard to believe that she took a step out, it is more likely that the door flew open while she was holding the handle. It is rather windy today."

The hostess was being treated for a head injury at the Sahlgrenska hospital and, according to Nyberg, she was able to answer questions asked by the medical staff after the fall.

Ryanair is no stranger to making headlines. Some of the most recent stories include the hospitalisation of three passengers after a plane plunged 20,000ft following a pressurisation warning on-board.

The low-cost carrier also made the papers when it recently urged its cabin crew to "lose weight to save on fuel costs".
