A month of rain in one day? Tomorrow to be wettest day of the year

Sunday will be hit by a month's worth of rain making it the wettest day of the year. Britain will see torrential rain, fierce winds and potentially life-threatening flooding, forecasters have warned.
A deluge will deliver two inches of rain in many parts, 70mph winds capable of uprooting trees will tear across the UK and severe flood warnings have been put in place.
Helen Chivers of the Met Office told the Express that up to two inches of rain are expected to fall before the end of Sunday - the MONTHLY average.
'It is going to be very unpleasant, an utterly miserable day,' she said. 'We could be looking at the wettest day of the year so far.'
Last night the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for rain and warned that flooding and traffic disruption were likely.
In a statement the Met Office said: 'Another vigorous depression is expected to spread heavy rain and strong winds into southern and some central areas of England and Wales on Sunday.'
The far north could experience a dry day but the entire country south of Manchester is flagged up to receive the wet and windy weather.
Yesterday saw York's River Ouse burst its banks for the second time in a week due to flooding. Another band of rain is expected to hit the UK on Tuesday, according to The Sun.
Despite this, the country remains in drought with the hosepipe ban still in place. Environment chiefs say the rain is not penetrating hardened earth after months of dry weather.
