Video: Bear wanders into Colorado uni campus, tranquilised and falls 15ft from treeVimeo/Carolyn Moreau

The one hazard about living in or taking a holiday to Boulder in Colorado? Flying bears.

Well, that's what happened on campus at the University of Colorado when a black bear wandered in and got cosy in an on-site tree.

Wildlife officers were called in and tranquilised the 200-pound male before stepping back and waiting for him to fall from his branch, according to the Daily Mail.

The Denver Post reports that the young animal (estimated to be between three and five) was ironically roaming around the Bear Creek student apartments before clambering up the tree.

A spokesman for the CU police department, Ryan Huff, told the paper that the bear was tranquilised with two darts at around 10am on Thursday.

He then fell on to mats placed on the ground, where he was allowed to lie woozily before being moved into a cage, where students were allowed to get close and even stroke its paw.

According to Jennifer Churchill, a spokeswoman for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the bear was then tagged and relocated to the foothills west of Boulder.
