Sally Bercow, wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons, spent half-term in a caravan parked outside Paddy Doherty's chalet at the Riverside gypsy camp in Queensferry, Flintshire, North Wales.
Sally and Paddy became friends when they took part in Celebrity Big Brother, and they recently appeared in the Channel 5 documentary, When Paddy Met Sally.
The Daily Mail reports that Mrs Bercow's children Oliver, seven, Freddie, four, and Jemima, two, joined her for the trip - as did their nanny.
At night, Mrs Bercow slept in the caravan with her two eldest children, while Jemima spent two nights with her nanny in the Doherty home.
Throughout her three-day stay Sally posted messages on Twitter saying how much she was enjoying herself, and Paddy was spotted driving his guests in a pony and trap and taking them swimming at the local pool.
On Valentine's Day she tweeted: "Clambering around energetically in North Wales. This soft-play centre is a poor substitute for a militant, secularist training camp, mind."
On Friday, when a friend tweeted to ask if she had enjoyed seeing Paddy again she replied: "Sure did! Kids and I loved our "caravan holiday" :))"
While she enjoyed the sights of North Wales, Sally's husband John was lecturing politics students at the prestigious Harvard University in the US.
Paddy told the Daily Mail: "Sally came to stay with the kids on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a little holiday for her and children. We arranged it a while back for the half-term because her husband was away in America."
He added: "We all had a great time. My wife Roseanne was here all the time. Sally is a great girl and we really get on, which is surprising considering our backgrounds.
"I spoke to her fella John on the phone and he is fine about it. He knew she was coming down here and he was all for it. He is a top, top man."
