Officials in Auckland, New Zealand, this week quarantined a flight that had arrived from Tokyo - after dozens of children were reported to be suffering with flu-like symptoms.

The flight carrying 274 passengers had been cordoned off after 73 students of a group of 90 had fallen ill, reported Radio New Zealand.

According to philstar.com, men in white coats and masks were seen boarding the plane to investigate the situation.

Aviation Security Services general manager Mark Everitt told Newstalk ZB radio station that around 70 passengers who had displayed flu-like symptoms were kept on board the plane while the rest were moved to a gate lounge and placed in quarantine.

However, according to the Radio New Zealand report, all the passengers were later cleared for anything other than "seasonal flu", and were allowed through Customs.
