According to reports on the news site Caribbean 360, many of the world's rich and famous stand to lose millions after splashing out on deposits for homes at the 32-acre Paradise Beach site.
Formula 1 Boss Eddie Jordan is also believed to have invested.
The 36 beachside villas in the plan were designed to be up to 20,000 sq ft each with private infinity pools, gyms, floor-to -ceiling windows and even indoor ponds stocked with small sharks, says the news site. They are believed to cost up to £18million each.

Construction of the project stalled in 2010 as sales of the villas slowed amid funding problems and the credit crunch.
Oil boss Aidan Heavey is now suing the developers demanding the return of his £1.3million investment in the project, says the Daily Mail. He is claiming the developers are in breach of contract by failing to complete his five-bedroomed villa by the agreed date in 2010.
