Anyone who lives with a heavy snorer knows that it can easily ruin a romantic break (warthog-worthy noises and sleep deprivation are no aphrodisiac, after all).

So one hotel is working hard to ensure its guests definitely do get a good night's sleep - and a possibility of passion!

Crowne Plaza is this week testing its 'snore absorption' room, which includes soundproofing and a specially-designed pillow to help guests sleep at one of its London hotels.

The new room is a result of research revealing that more than half of UK couples are losing between one and five hours of sleep a night due to snoring partners. And the snore absorption room is not only set to cure sleepless nights, but could repair marriages as well, with three in 10 couples revealing they have come close to splitting up because of nighttime snuffling.

What's more, 50% of UK couples complain their partner's snoring can ruin their holiday.

The firm said walls will be soundproofed, using eggbox-style foam to reduce noise reverberating in the room, while a sound-absorbing headboard will be installed to muffle any echo from snores.

An anti-snoring pillow will be placed on the bed, as well as a snore-stopping bed wedge that aims to make people sleep on their sides, as lying flat on your back often produces snoring.

If it's successful, guests might never leave...
