McDonald's serves up its first ever McWedding in Hong Kong

When you dream about your ultimate wedding venue, what springs to mind? A beach in the Caribbean? A chateau in the South of France?
How about a McDonald's restaurant in Hong Kong?
That's right, the American fast food giant is now serving up a new sideline - in weddings.
For HK$9999 (around £800), The McDonald's 'warm and sweet wedding package' offers wedding gifts, pink invitation cards emblazoned with golden arches, decor featuring the likes of Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar, and classic golden arches fare worth up to £240.
Additional items will cost extra, including a 'white balloon' gown rental (£100), balloon corsage (£7), balloon wedding cake (£55), and a large pink McDonald's backdrop (£200).
Newly engaged couple Kelvin Kwong and Ashley Tse were the first pair to take McDonald's up on its new wedding-themed business, with Kevin throwing his bride-to-be a surprise engagement party on Valentine's Day.

It might not be your cup of tea, but Shirley Chang, the managing director of Hong Kong's McDonald's outlets, says of the city's youth: 'They date here, they grow their love here, so when they have this important day they want to come over here.'
'You can see the world changing, especially the young generation,' Chang told Reuters.
'They're looking for out-of the-box thinking and ideas.'
Well, it's certainly one way to react to the economic crisis.
And, with two wedding parties confirmed for this year, and 70 other couples in talks, it seems to be taking off...
